The Episcopal Council for Christian Education (ECCE) supports those who are called to the ministry of religious education and formation in the Episcopal Church by providing models of life-long learning. ECCE works in collaboration with the Office for Children's Ministries and Christian Education of the Episcopal Church, with two members appointed through the Provincial Education Networks by the Provincial President to represent each province.

Theological Education for All a website that serves as a portal for education resources for people of all ages in the Episcopal Church. Here educators can also find information about Theological Education Sunday, which is an occasion to celebrate life-long formation.

The Office for Ministry Development (OMD) assists leaders to invigorate the ministry of God's people -in daily life and within the Episcopal Church. The goal is to expand the capacity of the Church for effective and transformative mission in response to the Baptismal Covenant and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

 


 

 


Anglicans Online Christian Education Pages

Congregational Resource Guide, an effort of the Alban Institute in consultation with the Indianapolis Center for Congregations and other specialists, exists to help congregational leaders connect with resources that will enable them to face challenges and foster vitality in their communities of faith. Has excellent links, is consistently updated and carries a wonderful search function.

The Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People in Faith is a project whose purpose is to develop resources to help contemporary people live the Christian faith with vitality and integrity in changing times. The Project is ecumenical in orientation and appreciative of the legacies of a range of Christian traditions. They sponsor grant programs, seminars, books, conferences and web sites for adults and youth.

    • Religious Education Association (REA) and Association of Professors and Researchers in Religious Education (APRRE) is a diverse association of professors, practitioners and researchers in religious education; its membership includes those from the Baha'i, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Jewish, Muslim, Protestant and other traditions involved in all aspects of religious education. Throughout its century-long existence, REA has supported research into moral and religious development in many ways, including conferences, workshops, and in-depth studies.

    • The Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) is an anti-racist, welcoming professional organization open to liberal religious educators and those supportive of religious education. LREDA promotes the religious growth and learning of people of all ages and advocates for and supports religious educators and the field of liberal religious education. Associated with the Unitarian Universalist church (UU).

 

Candle Press provides resources you can share with parents at home to help them in their role as the primary formers of faith in their children. The resources help you encourage these parents by providing concrete, tactile activities they can use in those respites families find to be together.

Church Publishing Incorporated  is a division of the Church Pension Group, begun in 1918 as The Church Hymnal Corporation to provide worship materials for The Episcopal Church. Today, in addition to providing prayer books, hymnals and other titles mandated by General Convention through the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music, there are several imprint divisions, each with their own areas of focus:

The Episcopal Media Center serves seekers, learners and leaders by combining the reach of mass media and the immediacy of targeted audio/visual resources to deliver the message of the Gospel. The Episcopal Media Center provides a wide selection of audio/visual resources for Christian education and enrichment - audio books, videos, tapes, CDs and more. There's something for everyone - children, teens, church leaders and congregations — anyone with a desire to learn more about the Christian faith. Also available through The Episcopal Media Center, TV ads that can be used by your church or diocese for outreach in your community.

Forward Movement Publications is an official agency of the national Episcopal Church. Since 1935 they have produced pamphlets, booklets, and books to encourage and nourish people as they grow in their lives of prayer and faith. Best known for the popular quarterly devotional Forward Day by Day, providing daily meditations based on readings from the Bible appointed by the lectionaries.

 

Growing in Faith Together is a weekly, intergenerational, Christian formation program that was developed to assist small churches for whom the traditional Sunday school model does not work. GIFT is more a format than a curriculum, although lesson plans and a book are underway to assist churches in implementing Growing in Faith Together.

 

LeaderResources is a publishing and consulting organization staffed by Episcopal educators. It provides over 40 downloadable curriculum for children, youth and adults. Best known for The Journey to Adulthood (J2A) youth ministry program, it also publishes WorkshopCycles (a rotation workshop model children's curriculum), LifeCycles (multi-year lay/ordained ministry education program) and a wide range of adult education programs, ministry and leadership training programs, Vestry retreats, seasonal materials, art and drama. LeaderResources recently introduced a line of books that includes books by well known Presbyterian author, Phyllis Wezeman. The programs at LeaderResources are largely developed by educators and clergy in local congregations and dioceses, are distributed as PDF and WORD files with permission for users to adapt materials for their own use. LeaderResources has a cadre of consultants and staff who provide workshops, retreats, training programs, conference addresses and consultations on education, program development, organization development, staff training and congregational ministries.
